International Open Call for Artists

Theme: Landscape and Places

January 12th, 2026

The Women in Arts Network is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions under the theme, “Landscape & Places.”

Throughout history, landscapes and places have been more than just scenery — they have been storytellers. They hold memories, emotions, histories, and connections to the world around us. A place can ground us, inspire us, comfort us, or challenge us. It can be real or imagined, familiar or unknown, intimate or vast.

We invite women artists from around the globe to interpret this expansive theme in their own unique way. Landscapes and places may appear in your work literally — a sweeping horizon, an urban street, a quiet room, or the corner of a world that feels like home. They may also appear metaphorically — as inner landscapes, emotional terrains, or symbolic spaces that represent moments, memories, or transitions.

This open call encourages you to reflect on what landscapes and places mean to you personally. Do they represent belonging, movement, identity, nostalgia, or discovery? Are they rooted in nature, shaped by people, or born entirely from your imagination? Whether you explore physical environments, cultural spaces, or internal worlds, your interpretation is welcome.

Through painting, sculpture, photography, digital art, collage, textiles, or any other medium, we invite you to bring to life the places that shape you — the ones you’ve seen, dreamed of, or carried within you.

Your unique perspective has the power to reveal the stories held within environments both vast and intimate. We look forward to witnessing how Landscape & Places come alive through your art.

Important: Please note that submitted artwork will undergo a juried selection process, and inclusion is not guaranteed.

Submissions Guidlines

🌍 Theme: Landscape & Places

“Landscape & Places” invites artists to explore the spaces — real, remembered, or imagined — that shape our experiences and inspire our creativity.

This theme is intentionally open and flexible, allowing you to interpret “Landscape & Places” in any way that resonates with your artistic practice. A landscape can be a sweeping natural view, the curve of a city skyline, the warmth of a room, or the quiet corner of a memory. A place can be physical or emotional, external or internal, familiar or completely invented.

For some artists, this theme may reflect the natural world — forests, oceans, mountains, fields, or the changing seasons. For others, it may represent human environments — bustling streets, intimate interiors, neighborhoods, or cultural spaces. And for many, “places” may take the form of feelings, transitions, dreamscapes, or symbolic spaces that hold meaning beyond geography.

Whether you work in realism or abstraction, whether your style is expressive, minimal, narrative, or experimental — your interpretation is welcome. You may explore:

  • Natural landscapes or urban scenes

  • Imagined worlds or emotional environments

  • Specific locations or symbolic spaces

  • Detailed observations or atmospheric impressions

  • Physical places or inner landscapes

Artists from all mediums — painting, photography, sculpture, collage, mixed media, textiles, digital art, video, installation, or other forms — are encouraged to share work that reflects how you see, feel, or interpret the environments around you.

With Landscape & Places, we invite you to consider the spaces that shape your life, your imagination, and your sense of connection. Whether grounded in reality or born from memory or dreams, every place has a story.

We look forward to discovering the worlds you create.

The Women in Arts Network is proud to launch a new project designed to provide women artists with visibility, recognition, and meaningful engagement with global audiences. This initiative combines a curated digital showcase with opportunities for deeper storytelling, offering artists a platform to share both their work and their creative journey.

Virtual Exhibition

The central feature of this project is an international virtual exhibition presented through an interactive online gallery. Accessible worldwide, the exhibition will bring together a diverse selection of works, highlighting the talent and voices of women artists across mediums and disciplines. This format ensures that participating artists gain global exposure while making their art accessible to collectors, curators, and art enthusiasts everywhere.

Artist Interview

As an additional opportunity, artists may choose to enhance their participation by being featured in a published interview. These interviews, hosted on the Women in Arts Network platform, spotlight each artist’s process, influences, and vision, offering valuable insight into their practice. The interviews are also promoted across our social media channels, extending reach and engagement beyond the exhibition itself.

This add-on feature allows artists to complement the visual presentation of their work with narrative context, creating a fuller picture of their creative practice and connecting with audiences on a more personal level.

Purpose and Impact

By combining the accessibility of a virtual exhibition with the option of extended storytelling through interviews, this project supports women artists in building visibility, credibility, and meaningful connections. It is a platform that celebrates creativity while amplifying individual voices within a larger, global dialogue.

How It Works:

  • Artists can choose to participate in just the Virtual Exhibition or both the Virtual Exhibition and Artist Interview.
  • All submissions for the Virtual Exhibition will gain global exposure online.
  • Those who opt into the Artist Interview will enjoy featured media placement, highlighting their creative voice alongside other talented artists.

Don’t miss the chance to share your vision and gain meaningful recognition in both digital and conversational formats. Whether you choose one option or both, this is your moment to shine. Submit your work today and become part of this inspiring creative platform!

Important: Please be aware that submitted artwork will undergo a juried selection process, and inclusion is not guaranteed.
