Example biographyMaya Rahman (b. 1988) is a textile artist based in Lahore, Pakistan. Working with hand-dyed cotton and reclaimed embroidery from her family's archive, she makes large wall pieces about inheritance and the unpaid domestic labour of women. Her work has been shown in group exhibitions in Lahore and Dubai.
Example statementI work with fabric my grandmother and mother left behind: tablecloths, dupattas, unfinished embroidery. I unpick and re-stitch them into new compositions, keeping their stains and repairs. By enlarging them to the scale of paintings, I'm asking what we decide to call art, and whose hands we choose to remember.
05Photographing your work+

Selected works will be printed, so image quality is essential. Low-resolution or poorly photographed images cannot be published.

  • Photograph in even daylight, away from direct sun.
  • Keep the camera parallel to the work so the edges stay square.
  • Crop to the edges of the work, with no frame, wall, floor or hands visible.
  • Do not apply filters. Colours should match the original.
  • Photograph three-dimensional work against a plain background, from its principal angle.
  • Submit all three images at a similar quality and resolution.
